Excitement characterized the Chienge Civic Center on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, as the town council officially handed over a brand-new Constituency Development Fund (CDF) purchased ambulance to the district’s health department.
The handover ceremony drew in a crowd of enthusiastic community members, government officials, and traditional leaders, who have since rendered appreciation to President Hakainde Hichilema’s initiative.
During the event, District Commissioner Ms. Rosemary Mwiche Chikonde hailed and described the ambulance as a game-changer for the district’s healthcare system.
The Commissioner took possession of the ambulance keys and switched on the engine and changed gear before handing it over to the department of health. After handing over the life serving vehicle, Ms. Chikonde stated that she was positive that the ambulance will enable swift and efficient transportation for patients in need of emergency care.
Speaking at the same platform, Acting Chienge Town Council Secretary Mr. Jonas Mwendakawa in a speech read on his behalf by Chienge Town Council senior state advocate Ms. Chita Kaliwile emphasized that the ambulance represents hope, care, and a commitment to the wellbeing of every individual in Chienge District.
She stressed that the CDF ambulance is part of a larger government effort to bolster healthcare services nationwide.
The new ambulance is one of the 119 new ambulances procured by the government using the Constituency Development Fund and distributed to constituencies across the country.
Receiving the ambulance Chienge District Health Director Dr. Mutapata commended President Hichilema for this timely intervention, pledging to ensure the ambulance serves the entire district effectively.
Dr. Mutapata noted that Chienge Residents are optimistic about the impact on their healthcare, with patients set to receive timely medical attention.
He added that the ambulance is more than just a vehicle and that it represents hope, care, and a commitment to the wellbeing of every individual in Chienge district.
