5th January 2026. Chienge, Zambia – Chienge Town Council has officially welcomed Mr. Robert Chisanga as the new Council Secretary and Mr. Jack Chibwe as the new Director of Human Resource and Administration. Mr. Chisanga takes over from Mr. Jonas Mwendakawa, who was serving as Acting Council Secretary, while Mr. Chibwe replaces Mr. Tony Tembo.
In his inaugural address, Mr. Chisanga stressed the importance of maintaining a positive work environment and upholding ethical standards, emphasizing the need for vigilance and transparency in managing public resources.
Mr. Chisanga assured staff that they would be protected if they adhered to the rules of transparency accountability and doing the right thing always, saying, “If you are doing the right thing, we will protect you.” He encouraged staff facing financial difficulties to approach his office for support, promising assistance where possible.
Regarding procurement, Mr. Chisanga has directed that local contractors from within the district be given priority, provided they meet the required standards. He emphasized the need to support local businesses.
He concluded by calling for unity and teamwork among departments, stating, “Only together can we achieve our goals as a local authority.”
In response, Zambia Local Authorities Workers Union (ZULAWU) Chairperson Danny Chungu, expressed the council’s readiness to work with the new leadership.
“We are a council full of useful employees with a desire to work and put the local authority and the District on the map through service delivery,” he said.
“We are grateful to have you, the new Council Secretary and Director of Human Resource and Administration, and we pledge our support to you. We are willing to work with you as a team to achieve our goals and serve the people of Chienge diligently and transparently.”
Chungu urged his colleagues to unite and work with the new leadership to promote the district’s development.
