LAKE MWERU – THE PRIDE OF CHIENGE DISTRICT
Lake Mweru is located on the far north-western border of Zambia, and we share the lake with the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Lake is fed by two main rivers, the Kalungwishi and the Luapula River. Both rivers’ mouths form important deltas that serve as fish breeding grounds.

Lake Mweru has a total shore line of just over 430KM, a maximum length of 130Km and a maximum width of 56KM of which over 40KM is beach land which remains undeveloped but which huge potential for investment.

The Lake doesn’t change much in level and area throughout the year. The Lake is shallow in the south and deeper in the north, with two depressions in the north-eastern section. It has a maximum depth of 27 meters while its shores are absolutely stunning, white sand beaches which beautifully contrast with the deep blue waters and radiant picture sque skies.
